Pregnancy Massage

Caring | Soothing | Considerate

Pregnancy is such a special time. The body undergoes so many changes during the nine months from conception to birth. The changes are sometimes obvious; the baby bump or fluid retention in the later stages, sometimes not so obvious: such as varied hormone levels, sciatic pain and anxiety.

Pregnancy massage is a relaxing, gentle treatment that can be especially beneficial in the latter stages of pregnancy. As the birth approaches and the strain on the body increases a gentle pregnancy massage can ease fluid retention, calm nerves and help with sciatic pain.

Although pregnancy massage can be beneficial at all stages, we do not recommend massage in the first trimester and would not treat this early in a pregnancy.

A little note:

A pregnancy massage is a wonderful way to treat an expectant Mum who will welcome the opportunity to feel pampered and relaxed before the birth of her child.

What to expect:

  • Before you get here, please make sure you’ve filled out your pre-session form (this is included in your booking confirmation email – you only need to do this once)
  • When you arrive at Phoenix, you’ll be greeted by our friendly Reception team
  • Your therapist will come to you and take you to your room
  • They will ask you a few questions to help understand what you’d like from the treatment – please give as much information as you can
  • The therapist will then leave you for a moment so you can undress and get comfortable
  • Depending on the stage of your pregnancy you may have to lie on your side. If this is the case soft pillows will be used to help you to feel supported and comfortable
  • During your treatment, you can talk to your therapist as much or little as you would like to, including feedback on the treatment
  • After your treatment, the therapist will leave the room for a moment to let you get dressed and bring you a glass of water

  • Will openly explain if they think that you would benefit from a different treatment type (even if that means with one of our other therapists)
  • Give easy-to-do aftercare to maximise the benefits of your treatment (sometimes this is: “have a long, lovely bath…”)
  • Fully qualified
  • Have professional indemnity insurance and police checked
