Deep Tissue Massage
Pain relief | Reduce knots
Deep tissue massage is a form of Swedish massage but uses advanced techniques to target specific injuries or problems. It helps relieve extreme muscle tension. It differs from Soft Tissue Therapy because the therapist will work on larger areas of the body in one session, rather than focussing on one specific target area.
You can ask the therapist for a lighter massage or they can apply more pressure for a deeper treatment – this can be discussed and adjusted during your session.
What to expect
It is sometimes the case that an ache in one area of the body is caused by tension in another and so the therapist may work on an area that seems to be unrelated.
This initial consultation with the therapist is very important and you should give as much information as possible about the specific issues that you need to have addressed. In particular if you have an injury or muscle pain try to think about when the pain started. What did you do to cause the injury? Did something happen that triggered the pain? This type of information will help the therapist in preparing your treatment plan.
After completing the consultation the therapist will leave you in the treatment room so that you can undress and get comfortable on the treatment couch. There will be towels for you to use to cover yourself with. During the massage the therapist will use the towels to cover your body and protect your modesty.
Our therapists are fully qualified, have professional indemnity insurance, are Police checked and members of a relevant professional body that requires them to undertake continuing professional development. They are extremely skilled in their therapies.
