Reiki originates in Japan and means literally ‘universal life force.’ Reiki is based on the belief that we all have an energy or life force flowing in our bodies.
This energy can become depleted or stagnant as a result of stress, illness and injury. In a Reiki treatment the therapist works to replenish and balance this energy to improve general wellbeing and allow the body to heal.
When you arrive for your first treatment your will be asked a series of questions about your health to make sure that the therapy is appropriate for you.
Treatments are done through clothing so it is best to wear lose fitting comfortable clothes for your session.
Reiki is given while you lie on your back on a treatment couch. If you have difficulty lying flat cushions will be used to make you comfortable or you can be seated. Once you are comfortable the therapist will start to work by simply placing their hands on your body. The movements and techniques used in Reiki are extremely gentle, so much so that many people fall asleep during the treatment.
