Our charity has been out meeting new people at the Great Yorkshire Vegan Fair and the Massive Market Place event. Everyone wanted to know more about what we do so here’s some info
Of course if you want more info or have any questions just get in touch.
What we do……
We offer support in the form of counselling and complementary therapies, to people who are referred to us because they have chronic health conditions and low incomes.
How does it work?
We get referrals from various health professionals: – doctors, mental health nurses, and health visitors to name but a few. The people that they refer have a variety of health issues but the most common are issues associated with anxiety and chronic depression. Perhaps because these conditions are so prevalent in modern society.
How many people do we help?
In the year between 1st April 2016 and 31st March 2017 we had over 3,200 appointments with people who were referred to us. Many of these were for our counselling service which offers low cost one to one counselling in a confidential setting. Others were for our massage therapies which can help people to overcome low self-esteem, loneliness and physical issues such as chronic pain. We also launched a pay as you can acupuncture service in the summer of 2016. This clinic runs every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm. In its first 6 months, the clinic had 162 appointments.
Where the funds come from
We are independent and not funded by the NHS, local government or any statutory body. We generate our own income by offering high quality therapies to the general public and directing the proceeds towards our own charity.
You can help to support our work by: –
- Coming along for a massage – maybe a relaxing hot stones treatment, reflexology or if you are the sporty type come and have a sports massage to improve your performance at an event or speed up recovery afterwards.
- Buying someone one of our gift vouchers for a present or just a treat
- Inviting us into your workplace to massage you and your colleagues during the working day
